Chinese humanoid robot walks 106km to claim Guinness World Record
Smart battery technology keeps robot active for more than three days
DUBAI/SHANGHAI – A humanoid robot built in China has set a Guinness World Record after successfully walking 106.286 kilometres between two major eastern cities without shutting down.
Developed by Shanghai-based Agibot, the robot named A2 began its ambitious journey from Suzhou on the night of 10 November and arrived at the Bund in Shanghai during the early hours of 13th November.
The feat has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the longest journey walked by a humanoid robot.
The A2 android powered through the demanding inter-city trek using Agibot’s rapid hot-swap battery system, which allowed it to remain fully active for the entire journey. According to the certification, the robot covered a total distance of 106.286 kilometres, keeping its system awake throughout.
What made it possible?
Agibot said the successful walk showcased advanced hardware reliability, cerebellar balance algorithms and endurance capabilities designed for commercial deployment. “Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is a tough task even for many humans, but the robot achieved it,” said Wang Chuang, Senior Vice President of Agibot. He added that the achievement builds a strong foundation for large-scale humanoid robotics applications in future.

The robot humorously described its journey as an “unforgettable experience in its machine life” and joked that it “might need new shoes” after the long-distance walk. Agibot also noted that the A2 model underwent major optimisation between April and May 2025, focusing on fall prevention during hundreds of hours of continuous operation.
How was it tested?
Before the Guinness challenge, on 17th August, the A2 successfully completed a 24-hour autonomous walk in high temperatures nearing 40°C, broadcast live online. The company said this test played a key role in preparing the robot for the inter-city challenge that pushed beyond 100 kilometres.
In April, another Chinese-made humanoid, the Tien Kung Ultra from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre, completed a 21-kilometre half-marathon in 2 hours and 40 minutes, demonstrating the growing advances in robotics endurance tests.
The record-setting journey has marked a breakthrough moment in China’s humanoid robotics sector, highlighting rapid developments in mobility, artificial intelligence and commercial readiness.
Agibot’s successful challenge has set a new global benchmark in autonomous long-distance performance, signalling a future where humanoid robots could operate in complex outdoor environments with sustained endurance.
